Subject: Survey completed (test message)

Hi Friend,

Thank you for taking part in our recent survey of people who smoke or have recently quit. We were delighted with the response – 1277 people participated in the Wave 3 survey between November 2020 and February 2021. EASE is an important health survey and we really appreciate your participation.

Congratulations to winners in iPad prize draw

Returning survey participants (that means people who previously participated in Wave 2 in 2019) were eligible for a prize draw – we had two Apple iPads up for grabs. The lucky winners were from Wairoa and Whangarei, and both were excited to have won and to be involved in the research.

Mini-survey coming soon

In the EASE study, we want to follow how things change for people over time. We have a mini-survey (Wave 3.5) coming soon, which will only take 10-15 minutes. As usual, everyone who takes part will receive a grocery voucher and once again there will be two chance to win an Apple iPad. Look out for your invitation to participate in June or July.

Meet the team

The EASE study is led by Professor Richard Edwards and Andrew Waa.

Richard trained as a doctor in the UK and treated people with respiratory conditions (problems with breathing or their lungs). He saw that many of those problems were preventable, so he changed his career to focus on prevention through research and advocacy. He moved to New Zealand in 2005 and now has over 20 years’ experience in tobacco control research and practice. He is Wellington-based Professor of Public Health (University of Otago) and a co-director of the ASPIRE 2025 tobacco control research group.
