Educator Voices: ASD Nest

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Research Alliance conducted a small study aimed at understanding educators’ experiences in the ASD Nest program, a model for K-12 inclusive education in which students with autism spectrum disorders are educated alongside their general education peers. Drawing on interviews in three schools, our new brief explores how educators believe ASD Nest has affected their students, their professional practices, and the larger school community. Our findings provide useful insight into the factors they see as essential for a successful ASD Nest program, challenges that may need to be addressed, and considerations for replicating the model in other schools and districts.

Research Alliance Contributes to New CTE Research Network Framework

Clare Buckley Flack and John Sludden, members of our Career and Technical Education research team, contributed to CTERN's new Equity Framework for Career and Technical Education Research. The framework illustrates how researchers can infuse equity into their research on CTE programs and policies and offers helpful resources, including a Checklist of specific actions researchers can take to advance equity at every stage of the research process.
