2017 at the Research Alliance: A Year in Review
This year, the Research Alliance worked with thousands of students, teachers, administrators, community leaders, and policymakers to develop and carry out research that informs New York City on topics that matter to our public schools. We are grateful to the many collaborators and generous funders who made this work possible. Here are some of our highlights from 2017:  

Celebrating the one-year anniversary of our Spotlight on NYC Schools series, which offers short, descriptive data analysis and visualizations designed to inject evidence into public education debates and raise important questions for future research. Topics we’ve explored in 2017 include:         
Publishing new research reports and practice guides, including:  
Engaging educators, students, researchers and district leaders, in part by:
  • Co-hosting a conference exploring system-wide efforts to improve educational outcomes for Black and Latino young men in eight cities, supported by the American Educational Research Association; 
  • Presenting Research Alliance findings at universities and conferences around the nation; and 
  • Conducting hundreds of interviews, focus groups and surveys at schools across the City, including more than 500 schools surveyed as part of our Computer Science for All evaluation. 

Launching new projects that we will continue to advance in 2018, including studies of:
