The Research Alliance for New York City Schools |
| Early Invitation: Forum on College Transfer Policies, Practices, and ResearchThursday, April 7th, 8:15am-12:00pm, NYU Kimmel Center |
|
|
The goal of the forum is to identify and discuss two- to four-year transfer policies and practices that hold promise for better preparing and supporting transfer students on their path to a Bachelor’s degree, as well as those that create barriers to graduation. The forum will also address directions for future research and program interventions designed to improve outcomes for transfer students.
This event is designed for education professionals who directly serve students in the transfer process or who influence policies and practices that may facilitate successful transitions for transfer students. It will address the roles of both the community colleges sending students and the four-year institutions receiving them in the transfer process. The morning will kick off with personal testimonies from two students who have experienced the CUNY transfer process, followed by a panel moderated by James J. Kemple of the Research Alliance, featuring four CUNY College Presidents: - President Lisa Staiano-Coico, The City College of New York
- President Farley Herzek, Kingsborough Community College
- President Gail Mellow, LaGuardia Community College
- President Felix Matos Rodriguez, Queens College
