Hi Folks.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend (a long weekend here in the U.S) and gearing up for the start of another trading week.
You may recall a couple of years back I mentioned that I was hearing rumblings from the direction of Russia that MetaQuotes, the creators of MT4 and MT5, was making moves towards dropping MT4 and switching everyone over to MT5.
My sources had just enough credibility that I began the long and arduous process of converting a lot of my products into an MT5 version, just in case.
I took a lot of heat over that from a few of you, who were certain MetaQuotes would never harm traders by taking away MT4, and that far too many tools had been developed for MT4 to make it likely it would ever go away.
So this morning I wake up to an email from my friend Tom, who keeps track of things like this for his own use. He was scouring the MetaQuotes Forum and found a statement from
Renat Fatkhullin, the CEO of MetaQuotes, concerning the future of MT4.
This is what he said (translated from Russian):
"MetaEditor will be rebuilt with the editor, as it is built on the same GUI library" [context: Someone asked him about plans for MetaEditor updates, and a hope that MT4 dies as it is supposedly 'a real pain to develop compatible code for this outdated platform"
"MetaTrader 4 has not been sold to brokers for several years and is evolved from the stage. We cannot refuse to force. But most likely we will announce its End of Life [i.e. end active support and updates] this fall, so that it will reach the management level that it is unreasonable to sit on a stopped platform, which is 18 years old."
Translation issues aside, it's pretty clear from the statement from the CEO that there will be no more work done on MT4...no more updates, no more repairs, no more improvements...after Fall of 2023 (which technically begins in 3 months and 3 days if I read my calendar correctly).
So, beware and be ready.
All of my recent software has been coded for both MT4 and MT5 in anticipation of this day coming, so I like to think I am as ready as I can be.
But for those of you who are just now hearing about this, or who put off doing anything about it when I first raised the issue 2 years ago, I've put my MT5 Conversion Package back up for a few days to give you a chance to get all the important earlier software I've developed (including a Renko generator AND Forex AutoScaler) for one very low price (less than 1/2 of what you would normally pay just for the MT5 version of AutoScaler, if that helps any).
You can check it out here: http://fxscalpingacademy.com/mt5package/
I'll be back later with an update as more develops on this issue.
