I’ll leave you until next month with another piece of wisdom from my Dad.
In 2015 when I opened the Francis (a restaurant in our town)- the first few weeks were- to this day- some of the hardest weeks of my life.
16 hour days- 100+ employees- satisfied & unsatisfied customers- no real direction with anything we were doing- just doing our best- every second of every day. I'd call my Dad in tears every night at midnight- & he would ask me the same question every night-
"Did you do everything you could do today to the best of your abilities?" I'd say- "Yes sir." Then he'd say- "Good- now go home, get some rest & do it again tomorrow."
To this day- I ask myself that question every night- & I'm 100% honest with my answer. This answer helps me reflect on the days actions/inactions- which gives me the opportunity to change what could've been more efficient- &/or be proud of the task I was able to complete.
Rather than- not reflect- not be honest- & continue being inefficient with my time & energy- &/or continue being unrealistic with my daily expectations- BOTH being the root cause of anxiety.
Try asking yourself this question at the end of every day. I'd love to hear how much your daily self awareness & fulfillment increases- while daily anxiety decreases.
