Hiding from Negativity is NOT the Same as Achieving Inner Peace

I am working on an article on the misconceptions around inner peace. This is one section. What do you think? In the coaching program we were talking about Toxic Positivity two weeks ago and I see how that feeds into false peace.

What this means is that you will consciously try to hide from negative emotions such as anxiety, anger and frustration in an effort to be calm. But running away from these negative emotions will never create a calm mind for you in the long term.

To hide from these negative emotions, you will usually have to act in a false way. You may try to smile when you are angry for example. Some people take out their credit cards and go on a spending spree to hide from these emotions.

All you are doing here is providing a temporary escape. The negative emotions are not going to go away for good. You need to accept these negative emotions and deal with them. Achieving inner peace is the most effective way to do this.

I don't like the term, negative emotions, as all emotions are beneficial in the right time and place. Learning to sit with or be with your emotion and face it and release is the way to inner peace.
