Call Your Shot by Kathryn Kincaid is a spicy baseball romance
There are so many incredible things about this book. Kathryn’s writing is engaging and creative. The story is imaginative, unique, and full of brilliant moments. I loved the way Kathryn tackled the second chance trope. I believed in the chemistry between Brenna and Nathan. Their relationship was full of angst and painful backstory, but they also had genuine caring moments for each other.
I learned a lot from reading this book. I’ve never read about characters with the form of neurodiversity of Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). This was incredibly well done and gave me an insight that I really enjoyed.
In Call Your Shot, the stakes are high, the romance is epic, and there’s so much tension; the steamy kind. I was desperate to get to that HEA when there was so much to play for.
Kathryn continues to showcase her talent in each of her books, making me keen to read the next. This is my first baseball book, but it won’t be my last especially if Kathryn writes another (keeps my fingers crossed!). Read this book. You won’t regret it.
No Freaking Way by Sarah Smith is a spicy fake relationship romance
This was another excellent Grant family book filled with fun. I was fully engaged with No Freaking Way and fascinated with where it would go. This was a brilliant book, and the spice scenes were perfect. The moments between Tyler and Tori were scorching, especially a particular changing room moment! Read this book for that scene alone.
That said, the whole book is excellent. Two addictive tropes of friends to lovers and fake relationships formed the story's background. In addition, it was lovely to read these characters with depth and backgrounds that spoke to their current life dilemmas. It was also a joy to revisit the members of the Grant family from previous books. Sarah smashes it again.
Smoking Gun by Lainey Lawson
This book was exactly what I needed, with its mixture of explosive spice, intense romance, and pain-filled backstories. I can't remember when I last read a cowboy romance, but everything about this book reminded me why they're so popular.
Gage is hot, loveable and carries significant secrets. But the best thing about Gage, aside from his spicy skills, is that when he falls, he does it hard and forever.
Lainey Lawson has created a world I want to lose myself in. I can't wait for more.
