Big Cat Portraits
Sept 12-15, 2019
Seeing the breath of a big cat at sunrise is a beauty to behold. In this workshop you will learn how to create atmosphere, dramatic lighting, fur, and of course, that awesome visible breath on the big cat. You will learn how to get that perfect rim lighting and avoid that cut out edge appearance that can compromise a painting.

A Star is Born!
Create Awesome Galaxies with our New Star Stencil
If you want Perfect stars that mimic cinematic lens effects, you need this! This was developed as a spinoff from our popular Moon & Stars classroom in a box kit.
Use this star stencil for rendering the sparkle of a star, then use the circular ring to create a colorful halo. (hint: elevate the ring and spray lightly with a different opaque color to create a more realistic blurry effect).
This is a carefully planned stencil design, and it offers a wide range of star types, with the option to add single or multiple halos in varying sizes. Over 230 variations possible!

Until you've tried painting a baby, it is difficult to know the challenge that photorealistic baby portraits represent. However, its a proven money-maker for commissioned works.
A baby's skin is subtle and more translucent than adult skin, and even the hair is finer, which is why many artists avoid baby portraiture, but by applying a few easy techniques, its possible to create life-like images of babies and children.

What is a Masterclass? It represents the next level of training, with comprehensive color theory, technique, and guided instruction.
Pure freehand airbrush is considered the ultimate expression of airbrushing by many, and this masterclass does not disappoint.
In this 4-day workshop, Dru Blair will teach you the proper techniques of blending, details, skin, textures, hair, lips, color matching, layering. realistic skin tones, and many other attributes that may airbrush artists find elusive to freehand painting.
Also, students will learn how to create superfine white lines without the need for tools, and without color shift. That's right - NO color shift.

While we love it here in Blair, we thought it would be also nice to offer folks the chance to visit and learn in one of the most beautiful cites in the world. Charleston, SC has a huge variety of restaurants, lodging, site seeing, history, art galleries, and easy airport access.
2019 Marks Dru's last international tour, and next year Dru will begin holding fewer workshops so he can dedicate himself to his new art center and children's art classes. The new venue features 3 studios, with great natural light, and on-site parking.
We will still offer Masterclass photorealism airbrush workshops, only less frequently than in previous years.
