Dear Friend,
How quickly are you able to recognize and assist your cat with issues that effect his/her overall well-being, health, happiness, and survival?
This is a partial list of some of the more common and serious behaviors that your cat will display signaling that help is needed.
The purpose of this article is to encourage you to be alert to
specific signals so you'll take early action!
RED FLAGS - YOUR ATTENTION IS NEEDED!
DO YOU HAVE A PLAN OF ACTION?
1- Sudden changes in behavior, such as hiding, or not wanting to be touched or held.
2- Urination problems:
A) Urinating outside the litter box.
B) Straining to urinate.
3- Defecation problems:
A) Defecating outside the litter box.
B) Moves bowels by putting front paws on side of litter box (constipation).
C) Very hard stool
D) Diarrhea with or without vomiting.
4- Vomiting
5- Eating less or not at all.
6- Overeating and then vomiting immediately.
7- Increased thirst; decreased thirst; not drinking AT ALL and becoming dehydrated.
8- Difficulty climbing stairs; difficulty jumping up or down; difficulty chasing moving objects.
9- Cat starts meowing more often, meowing less often, or making different sounds.
10- Hunched up position - not resting on belly due to discomfort in stomach or abdomen.
11- Cat acts like s/he want to bite you or tries to bite you or actually bites you.
Recognizing that there's a problem is step #1.
Documenting what you are observing is step #2.
Prompt action on your part is step #3.
A visit to the veterinarian may be essential to getting information and help for your cat. especially if your cat is dehydrated, constipated, has a urinary or intestinal blockage, and/or is in pain.
Having a session with an Animal Communicator may also be helpful.
In the session, we will
a) gather information from your cat which can be included in conversations with your veterinarian, and
b) help you and your cat understand what's going to happen and agree to a Plan-of-Action.
