Update on last two days
Disappointing couple of days with two very strong elections not even troubling the field, so felt it would be a good time with no racing today to give you my views on the two races.
Friday saw Passional miss the break and get away anything but smoothly which in a 5 furlong dash is always going to a tough ask to recover from. Connections had been confident but the Jockey never looked comfortable and of course gave herself a mountain to climb after the start. I would certainly be keeping an eye on this next run as they were confident the handicapper hadn't yet caught up with this horse after such an easy and impressive run last time out. Will keep it in our notebooks as a better ride next time may well see a winner again.
Saturdays selection just seemed to find the heavy going a step to far, as did a few others and despite this race looking very much between the front three in the market Faivoire pulled off a real upset. Has the handicapper caught up with this horse? Maybe, but of interest is that it David Dennis who was working in tandem with Tim Symonds, upped and left along with his associated horses and moved to Matt Shepherd. This is most surprising given the decent strike rate that the Symonds-Dennis partnership were enjoying in their brief marriage this winter. Has this move upset the applecart at Symond’s yard? Llandinabo Lad was fully entitled to favouritism so I will certainly be digging to see if there was more to this split than was revealed.
Good luck if you have a bet today, I liked Warrior Brave in the 3.10 at Lingfield but any value in the selection long gone and Obtuse may yet give it some problems despite carrying hefty penalties if it can continue its upward curve.
