Assalaamualikum Friend,
Looking back at my years as a hifdh student, I’ve come to realise something very profound.
Like every beginner, I was often busy with the numbers at the start of my hifdh journey. For example, how long would it take if I memorised X pages in Y number of days?
But during the long sittings of memorising the Quran and late nights of revision, I came to realise that it’s not about how many days it will take me. It’s not even about how much I memorise.
It’s all about connecting with our lord, Allah SWT, the Sublime. I was a young child when I was memorising the Quran so thinking about connecting w/ Allah SWT quite honestly, was not something that I thought about at age 10/11. That's something I wish I had!
You know what's a huge achievement? Not only managing to memorise the Quran but also spending 2+ hours a day remembering Allah SWT; listening to and repeating His divine message.
Now that’s an achievement!
That’s a goal worth striving for.
