Assalaamualikum Friend,
When one hears about the magnificent rewards saved for the Hafidh, the one who memorizes the Quran, there is no doubt that he will feel an instant desire to become one.
And so he/she starts. H/she calculates the number of ayaat he needs to memorize a day to reach his goal of completion and sets upon this noble path. After a few years, he finally completes his memorization and becomes a Hafidh.
What’s missing in this story?
It’s the barriers: the day-to-day struggles of waking up early and repeating the same ayaat, again and again. The negative beliefs (or call it Shaytaan’s whispers) that it is impossible to complete so you might as well give up now.
These barriers are real.

Here are 3 practical ways you can implement to overcome these barriers and continue to progress in your journey to learn the book of Allah (SWT).
1. PURIFY YOUR INTENTIONS
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.”
For that reason, we should always strive to learn the Quran to seek the pleasure and love of Allah (SWT), rather than to seek the pleasure and love of the people.
2. MAKE DUA FOR EASE
It’s well known that our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to often make this supplication,
“‘O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficult, if You wish, easy.”
3. GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
An accountability partner, whether it be your Quran teacher or friend, is imperative to keep you on track with your Quran goals. They are there to give you reminders when you slip-up and are there to motivate you to carry on.
