Over 35 years ago, Syerrir Agnarsson Ibrahim converted to Islam. He was Iceland’s first Muslim, and he faced a dilemma.
It was summer in Iceland when Ramadan came, and the sun never set. Syerrir wanted to know how he should fast but had nobody to ask. So he put pen to paper and sent letters with his query to Al-Azhar University in Egypt and a few other Muslim organisations in London.
Unfortunately, nobody replied.
