You Are A Curator.
Have you ever shared a Facebook post, or forwarded an email, or linked to a YouTube video?
If you have then you are a curator.
That's all "curation" is - collecting and filtering content (i.e. "aggregating") and displaying or linking to it.
Information Overload.
How often do you check your email or check Facebook or surf the net?
FACT: there's too much information out there! We're all suffering from information overload.
BIG Problem For Internet Marketers.
This is a BIG problem for us marketers because when people experience overload they reach analysis paralysis and tune- out, shut down.
Delete, delete, delete and unsubscribe....
When we become overwhelmed we tune out.
There's too much noise and not enough signal (i.e. people need a filter).
Your Customers Want Clarity.
People don't want to feel sold to, but they do want to buy things that will help them. The problem is there's too much information out there and it's confusing.
People are desperate for clarity. As marketers our opportunity is to provide that clarity - by collecting high quality content and sharing it to help people.
We Love Oprah.
People love Oprah, the Huffington Post and the New York Post because they provide us with added value through information and advice. Even though less than 50% of their content is original.
Ideally, all internet marketers need to be creators and curators of high quality valued-added products, information and data.
