Subject: Cambridge Film Festival begins today!

The 38th Cambridge Film Festival starts today with a special star guest

It's here at last. With over 160 titles from 44 countries, the internationally renowned Cambridge Film Festival begins today.

The opening film is the much anticipated Terry Gilliam feature THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE. We are very pleased to announce that Terry Gilliam is attending the screening and will take part in a Q&A afterwards.

The film is a modern and satirical twist on the Don Quixote tale. Disillusioned advertising executive Toby (played by Adam Driver) returns to Spain, where he shot his graduation film. He discovers that the man he employed to play the role of Don Quixote (Jonathan Pryce) has spent the intervening years believing that he really is Don Quixote, who soon becomes convinced that Toby is his trusted Sancho Panza.

There are only a few tickets left for this event, so you are advised to book early.

Family Film Festival fun
One of our much loved strands, the Family Film Festival, is back with a bumper programme, presented in a friendly environment giving families plenty of opportunities to get involved with the Festival.

There are free short films, family-friendly features, and free workshops to entertain children and adults of all ages, exploring the topics of Space, Sustainability and Family.
For example, why not come along to the BAFTA KIDS: SUMMER CAMP ISLAND on Saturday morning, a special screening of Cartoon Network’s wildly imaginative animated series, Summer Camp Island. Watch four episodes as Oscar and his best friend Hedgehog discover the mysteries and magic of the camp. Enjoy additional behind the scenes footage including a Q&A with the British creator Julia Pott, and win Cartoon Network goodies in the drawing competition for children and adults. Hosted by Nigel Clarke, presenter of the Ben 10 Challenge on Cartoon Network.
Or experience the magic of MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, an enchanting family film from Studio Ghibli, celebrating its 30th birthday this year. When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby.
Look out for...
THE GUILTY
Showing tonight and on Friday, this is a real crowd pleaser (it won the audience award at Rotterdam this year), The Guilty takes place in a police control room and centres on Asger who has been taken off frontline duty while being investigated. Bored by answering the incoming calls, he is suddenly jolted by one that is from a woman who has been kidnapped. Is this a chance for redemption? While not able to leave the room, he coordinates the forces to rescue her. Absolutely compelling and fascinating as the threads slowly unravel.
LEMONADE
For those who aspire to the American Dream, it rarely turns out quite as they imagined. This intriguing drama explores the bitter-sweet experience of a young Romanian single mother desperate to secure that all-important Green Card. While working as a nurse on a temporary US visa, Mara is offered marriage by one of her patients, but is this really the answer to her prayers? Acutely observed and unsentimental, Ioana Uricaru’s debut feature hints at the complex motives we rarely acknowledge, even to ourselves. The film is screening on Friday and Saturday.
