Subject: A message from our Chair.

Dear friends and supporters of the festival,

We hope that you're keeping well during these uncertain times. Whilst the outbreak of the corona virus has forced cinemas to close and halted gatherings of people to watch films together, we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we will be ready for the time when we can all get together again.

However, with core staff currently on furlough and continuing uncertainty over the medium term impacts of the coronavirus crisis, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Cambridge Film Festival in cinema venues this year. We are looking at a range of creative options that will allow us to continue to bring great films to the people of Cambridge and further afield. We hope to make further announcements soon.

Thanks to support from Cambridge City Council, our popular Cambridge Film Festival “In Your Community” project will be returning for its second season as soon as it is possible, later this year and in early 2021. We are incredibly proud to be bringing films out of a traditional cinema setting and right into the heart of local communities across Cambridge.

We are immensely grateful for the supportive and understanding position being taken by our key partners as we look to navigate these difficult times. Special thanks goes to the British Film Institute and Film Hub South East. In particular, we are proud recipients of the BFI FAN Covid-19 Resilience Fund, thanks to the BFI Audience Network awarding us funds from the National Lottery.

Please do keep an eye on our social media for the latest Festival news. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Cambridge Film Festival as soon as possible.

Best Wishes,

Isabelle McNeill

Support the Cambridge Film Festival.

During this difficult time for the arts, we at the Cambridge Film Trust are committed to doing everything we can to support great cinema and film making talent, and to continue bringing the very best films to our passionate audience in Cambridge as soon as it is possible to do so.

If you are in a position to consider making a donation, to support both the Cambridge Film Festival and film culture across the region, that would be a great help and hugely appreciated, thank you.
