April was an awesome month with a record crowd coming out for Easter Sunday plus a full house for the Marshall Vente Quartet performing in The Jazz Room. As the weather gets warmer (we hope) let us make May even better together!

» Chicago Chopin Foundation

Chopin GardenThe Chicago Chopin Foundation along with the Grant Park Conservancy invite all lovers of culture and history to the Chopin Garden in Grant Park for the Great Constitutional Concert on Saturday, May 6th at 2 p.m. after the conclusion of the Polish Constitutional Day Parade.

The program will include:

-- A historical performance titled “May 3rd Declaration” by the “Polonia” Song And Dance Group under the direction of Iwona Puc
-- Piano recital by pianist Konrad Binienda of Chopin’s most beautiful compositions
-- A collection of Chopin’s songs performed by Marta Witosławska, solo singer from Krakow
-- A concert of patriotic songs performed by the choir with the audience
-- Traditional garden party in the Chopin Garden
-- The event will be hosted by MC Zbigniew Banas
-- A concert is a family event where we showcase happiness and traditions but not political views, and we wish everyone a great time

» May Jazz Schedule

Its Mardi Gras!!!Just a quick note that the MAY LIVE JAZZ event will be held on Thursday, June 1st starting at 7 p.m. with the Nuclear Jazz Quarktet. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There is a $10 donation at the door for all guests.

Thursday, May 4 - LIONEL HAMPTON - This evening's presentation by Jim Curto is "Lionel Hampton."

Thursday, May 11 - THE JAZZ SIDE OF HARRY JAMES - Tonight's presentation by Perry Huntoon looks at the jazz side of trumpeter Harry James' playing.

Thursday, May 18 - THE TRUMPET - This evening's presentation by guest presenter/musician, James Hatfield is "The Trumpet".

Thursday, May 25 - A NIGHT AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD - Tonight, society president Ian Tiele takes an audio-visual look at some of the live jazz recorded at New York's famous Village Vanguard club.
