Subject: Anti-racism is a verb...

Friend,

StartupNation, Kate and I have been doing a lot of reflecting this past week.  We are deeply saddened for what is and continues to go on in the world especially as related to the BIPOC community, the continued systemic racism and injustices black people face.

We have been in conversations about our role as leaders in the therapist community.

We clearly have not done enough to address racism.  We are acknowledging that, are aware of it and taking responsibility and action to change that as antiracism in not a thing or concept.  It is a VERB!

We have become aware of our own blind spots and have committed to our own anti-racist work.

We are committing to making a difference with you collectively as a community, white people and white therapists, the BIPOC community and to all we collectively serve because WE KNOW therapists are HUGE change agents in transforming the world.

Here's how we are taking action and what we are up to as we know this doesn't end:

1.  Doing our own anti-racism work.

2.  Speaking up and taking a stand for the BIPOC community when we see or hear racism.  Racism will not be tolerated in our group.

3.  Doing our own work and having antiracism conversations with people both personally and professionally.

4.  Compiling a resource list that addresses antiracism work and resources as well as resources for the BIPOC community (this will be available soon on our website).  Check out this helpful resource list as well CLICK HERE.

5.  Utilizing our podcast as a place to have these very important conversations to help educate people, give voice and continue to break the silence.

6. Assuring that there is equal representation of the POC community in all we do.

7.  We have also updated our FB Group message and rules.
