| Dear Pig Subscribers,
I wanted to let you know about two projects that Henry and I have been working on since finishing Pig.
First, I'm thrilled to announce that the film we made right after Pig, The House That Jack Built, is finally getting a national release! The film opens in select cities and on Cable VOD and digital platforms on November 6th. 20 years after the death of its screenwriter, the late, great Joe Vasquez (Hangin' With The Homeboys), the film will finally be available for a wide audience to experience.
One of the reasons we're getting this great opportunity is because of the support you gave us on Pig. Jack was in development for years, but the project could never get the greenlight. Then after we made Pig for so little money, the original Jack producers realized that they could make the film for far less than they had budgeted. So they raised some money from a few investors and the rest is history.
Now we need your support again. To insure that the film reaches as wide an audience as possible, we're asking you to help us spread the word. Here's what you can do:
- Pre-Order, Rate and Review the film on iTunes. The film comes out on Nov. 6th, but it's available for pre-order on iTunes now. The number of pre-orders we get determines how well the film will be positioned on the platform come Nov. 6th. The more ratings and reviews we get also helps that placement, and helps convince audiences to give the film a chance. Rating and reviewing it only takes a minute, and that will help us immensely! RATE ON ITUNES >
- Watch our new trailer. iTunes just released our new trailer exclusively on their Movie Trailers page. The more views we get, the better our eventual placement on the platform will be! WATCH JACK TRAILER >
- Spread the word about our screenings. The film will screen in these cities in the following weeks: Minneapolis, The Bronx, Phoenix, Cleveland, Atlanta, Orlando, Seattle, and Daytona Beach. If you're in any of these cities, please come check out the film on the big screen. And please let your friends know about these screenings. For more information about where and when the film will be screening, please visit our website: JACK SCREENING INFO >
- Spread the word about our VOD release. Beginning Nov. 6th, the film will be available On Demand via the following cable providers: Armstrong, Atlantic, AT&T, Bend Broadband, Brighthouse, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, Dish Network, DirectTV, Mediacom, Optimim, Suddenlink, and Time Warner. That covers most of the country. Please let your friends know about the film and if you're a social media person, please feel free to post the links of our iTunes page or website. For a little film like ours, with very little marketing budget, this is just how it works. This is how we're going to get people to see the film.

| | Why See The Film?
You know how when you go to a big Hollywood movie that you don't like, and you ask, "why don't they make those good movies like they used to?" Well, the answer is, they do. It's just that Studios doesn't make them anymore and the little companies that do don't have the money to market them in a big way. Jack is one of those movies. Made on a small budget with no "stars" (but great actors), Jack won 8 awards on the festival circuit and picked up a bunch of great reviews. These kinds of little dramas, however, hardly ever get released in any wide way anymore, so we're incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity to share the film with the world.
Here's what the critics said:
"Simply brilliant...not to be missed. Full of great moments and performances. 'The House that Jack Built' is a clear indication that Barrial doesn't simply have a knack for humanizing complicated stories, but for telling them beautifully." - Quiet Earth
"Takes us on a majestic journey of crime, family drama, and redemption. Not since ‘Real Women Have Curves’ has there been such a thorough investigation into the complexities of Hispanic-American culture." - Awards Circuit
"Bring(s) to mind the great classic movie about family, The ‘Godfather.’ Barrial’s direction effectively captures both the tender moments, and the scenes of explosive violence." - We Are Movie Geeks
"Using Bronx locations and a strong cast of Caribbean-Latino actors, director Henry Barrial constructs a convincing portrait of a neighborhood and its Nuyorican culture, staying true to the scale and sensibility that filmmaker Joseph B. Vasquez envisioned for the movie." - The Hollywood Reporter |
| | | DriverX - "The Uber Movie"
We're also thrilled to tell you about our newest movie, DriverX, which we just wrapped photography on a few weeks ago. DriverX is about a middle-aged man, Leonard, who has to start driving for an Uber-like rideshare company in order to support his working wife and two young daughters. It's actually based on the real-life exploits of writer/director Henry Barrial, who has been driving for Uber for the last year. A lot of strange things happen on those rides, and we'll be the first film to tell that story honestly. |
| DriverX starts Patrick Fabian as Leonard. You might recognize Patrick from his role as slick lawyer Howard Hamlin on the hit AMC show Better Call Saul. He also starred in the horror film The Last Exorcism and had a small role in Pig. He is a 25 year acting veteran.
The film also features a number of other familiar faces, including Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine Nine, and she also stars in The House That Jack Built), Oscar Nunez (The Office), Travis Schultd (Scrubs), Desmin Borges (You're The Worst, also in The House That Jack Built), Max Gail (Barney Miller), Randall Batinkoff (As Good As It Gets), Iqbal Theba (Glee), and many others.
We invite you all to Like our Facebook page, where we'll be posting pics from the shoot, as well as clips and other information: DRIVERX FACEBOOK PAGE >
More to come about the film in the coming months...
Thank you again for all the support you've given Henry and I during these last several years. Making no-budget indie films is hard, and we wouldn't be able to do it without your help and enthusiasm!
Best, Mark Stolaroff Producer, Pig, The House That Jack Built, DriverX |
