As Prince George’s County continues to RISE: How do we ensure both prosperity and equity in our growth and development?

Prince George’s is the wealthiest African American-majority county and has one of the highest average household-incomes for counties in the U.S. In recent decades while the western and northern halves of our region enjoyed most of the region’s fruits of prosperity, the eastern half of the region (including Prince George’s and east of the Anacostia River) largely have not. In recent years, though, this dynamic has begun to change.

In the next 20 years, our county’s population is poised to grow significantly, potentially adding as many as 100,000 residents to a population that topped 900,000 in 2016. And our economy, which has lagged behind in economic growth and development, is now geared up to grow significantly in the coming decade and beyond.

Going forward Prince George’s County must not just grow in size and numbers but grow smarter and more equitably than it has until now.

This Seat at the Table event is to explore in greater depth how we grow smarter, more prosperously and more equitably.

Come help us figure out how!
