Power comes through bold and enduring movements

 led by directly affected people

 There are multiple dimensions to building power:


  • People Power: community organizing at scale including base building and leadership development.

  • Alliance/Relationship Power: creating better alliances and social capital among Black and brown organizations.

  • Narrative Power: Shaping the public narrative and discourse about Black and Brown communities.

  • Governance Power: Legitimate and credible shaping of institutional decision-making that affects Black and Brown communities.

 

 Black exceptionalism and classism is a huge issue to address when discussing power building in Prince George’s County. We encourage you to participate in this forum to talk about what's truly special about Prince George’s County understanding and removing the black exceptionalism and classism lens. We aim to help our county residents understand that they have power and raise the awareness needed for the Power Building.
