Subject: Forty UNDER 40 Prince George’s County 2020: This Year's List…

The Chair's Corner
From all of us at the Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund, we first hope that all our community is staying safe and healthy during these trying and unprecedented times. The impact of this coronavirus crisis are real, whether it is lives lost, businesses affected or simply the inability to be close to those we care about when we want to be. However, during this time, we also know that the core premise of PGCSIF is being proven, which is that there is nothing wrong in Prince George’s County that cannot be fixed by what is right with Prince George’s County. And what is most right with our home that we love is our people. Our people who are doing wellness calls for senior citizens just to make sure they are safe, our people who are doing virtual mentoring with children who may not be getting that in their day to day lives, our people who are looking to create new services to solve the new everyday problems affecting us and our people in positions of power trying to do right by the public during this time. Our newly named 2020 Forty Under 40 Honorees are proof of that, please take a look at this amazing list of people and they will give you the same hope that they give me.

As we continue to watch this situation unfold, please know that the Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund will remain active and find ways to serve our County in ways that are safe and still impactful. Look for future updates in the coming days and weeks on our activities.

In recent days, there has been a debate about the term “social distancing” which refers to the practice of creating space between ourselves and others to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. What has been said recently by many and that I agree with is that what we need right now is “physical distancing” but increased “social closeness.” Here in Prince George’s, each of us needs to work even harder than ever before to make sure that we maintain our bonds of fellowship with our loved ones, our neighbors and even those we don’t know as well as we should. At the Fund, we seek to do everything we can to ensure that after this crisis that our County is stronger and closer than ever.

Best,
