Sometimes your unhappy employees are the most engaged.

We know, this is the opposite of what HR articles have been telling us for years. But it's true. Think about it. To be frustrated or actively unhappy takes energy. That's why you'd be hard pressed to find someone complaining about something they don't actually care about.

This is also why, if you really want to measure for employee engagement, you have to look past, "Are my team members happy?" And start looking for the only one, observable measure of employee engagement.
