Labour Day and the School Holidays

What is Labour Day? I had to look this up, as I have to admit I wasn't sure what Labour Day was. Monday commemorates the granting of the 8 hour working day. Before it was introduced people were being forced to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. I remember have a talk at school in the 1980's about working. The person was telling us that he thought we would all be working less hours a week and that we should think of hobbies to fill all the free time we would have! I am still waiting! LOL!
I think on Monday this will be me! What will you decide to do and if you have children we have some great workshops and events to keep them happy this holiday.

Dashville Skyline
Australia’s very own Cosmic Country Weekender, Dashville Skyline, returns this September to the hallowed bushland of Dashville in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

Unfolding over the Labour Day long weekend, Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September 2018, the fourth instalment of this magical boutique festival will feature one of its biggest headliners The Waifs and C.W Stoneking in addition to a fine selection of the best roots artists Australia has to offer featuring over 30 incredible acts in the Americana, alt-country, psychedelia, folk and bluegrass genres.

The festival includes on-site camping, delicious American-inspired food, beer and wine, vintage market, petting zoo and more. Dashville Skyline is every bit as family friendly as its older brother, The Gum Ball, so people of all ages are most welcome with various ticket prices in place (punters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian)

Leura Gardens Festival
The 2018 Leura Gardens Festival has a new format - this year the Festival will be held for 6 days over 2 festival weekends:

Saturday, 29 September – Monday, 1 October, 2018 (public holiday weekend)
Friday, 5 – Sunday, 7 October, 2018
Gardens are open from 9.30 am - 4.30 pm.

There will be no festival from Tuesday, 2 – Thursday 4 October, 2018.

The festival, which is so enthusiastically supported by the local community, celebrates cold climate gardens and gardening, and all proceeds raised will benefit the Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital and Blue Mountains health related organisations.

Situated in the beautiful Blue Mountains 100 kms west of Sydney, the gardens of Leura are famous for their magnificent displays of azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, camellias and other cool climate exotics, as well as flowering annuals, perennials and bulbs. The blaze of springtime colour in the gardens attracts visitors from all parts of Australia and overseas.

There are big gardens and small gardens in the Festival and each garden has its own distinctive character.
