New Year's Eve in Sydney is the highlight of the Year, what are you
going to do? I
know some of you have planned ahead as some of the harbour cruises are
booked out. So if you are thinking of joining a cruise you will
need to book in quick. But for those of you still have no idea here are our suggestions for this
year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Philippa Bird and the team at What's on Sydney
The Fireworks and the Harbour
Every
year, there is a theme to the night, this year it is Inspire. This year Jack Thompson is the Creative Ambassador this year and he announces this
year's theme in this video and what inspires Jack.
The official charity of 2014 Sydney New Year’s Eve is Engineers Without Boarders Australia.
The Line up:
6.00pm - Air Displays above the Harbour
7.00pm - Fire Tug Water Display
8.00pm - Air Displays above the Harbour
8.30pm - Pylon Projections
8.40pm - Acknowledgement of Country
8.45pm - Sydney Harbour Bridge Effect
9.00pm - Family Fireworks Display
9.15pm - Harbour of Light Parade
10.40pm - The Inspire Moment
Midnight
- Fireworks Display. The fireworks and Sydney Harbour Bridge Effect, as always is a
well-kept secret until midnight on 31 December.
This New Year’s Eve, for the first time, the world’s most famous
bridge will be lit up with tweets from Sydneysiders and visitors about
how the harbour city will inspire them in 2015.
In the lead up to the world-renowned Midnight Fireworks display,
audiences gathered around Sydney Harbour – along with those watching at
home – will be encouraged to use the hashtag #SydNYE to tweet New Year
messages that tie into this year’s theme, Inspire.
The tweets will appear live on the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylons
throughout the night, and will be broadcast around Australia and the
world in coverage of the first major city to ring in the New Year.
NEW YEAR’S EVE AT DARLING HARBOUR WILL BE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR
Darling Harbour’s spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks will be staged at not one, but two, live sites in 2014.
The changing footprint of Darling Harbour, and ongoing development of the highly-anticipated International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), has reduced the viewing audience capacity at Cockle Bay, so event organiser Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA) has opened up a second fireworks site at Tumbalong Park to distribute crowds more evenly.
Alongside the two major displays traditionally held at 9pm and midnight, there will be smoke and laser shows at both the Cockle Bay and Tumbalong Park firing sites each hour from 8pm until midnight, with smaller fireworks displays every half-hour.
CEO of SHFA, Catherine Gallagher, advised visitors to Darling Harbour to arrive early on New Year’s Eve and choose which site they wanted to attend, as movement around the precinct would be restricted and seating limited on the night.

| NYE on the Harbour @ The Cargo Bar
|
|
NYE On The Harbour has secured it's position among Sydney's elite NYE
soirees, being one of the hottest tickets each year and consistently
selling out as it showcases lineups usually reserved for much larger
venues as it flaunts it's prime waterfront location, sprawled across
both floors or Cargo and extended out onto the pier.
With a lineup including Hermitude, Yolanda Be Cool, Crooked Colours,
Hayden James and a Secret Headliner yet to be announced, plus many more,
guests are set to dance their way into the New Year.
The event's success is based on a winning combination of 5 star
Keystone Hospitality, carefully selected artist programming, state of
the art production and a highly saught after waterfront location.
Join us this year at NYE On The Harbour and see for yourself what all the fuss is about! www.cargonye.com |
