Kicking things off with a bang— celebrating 50 years since the making of John Waters’ anarchic masterpiece FEMALE TROUBLE in glorious SMELL-O-RAMA! And what better way to close out the fest than with the must-see documentary SCALA!!! If you’re a cinema/music/art lover, you’ll love the story of the wildest cinema ever!


Over the four days, SUFF has a killer selection of films, with 13 Australian Premieres, to be exact! Films you will only see on the big screen at SUFF. Plus, YOU CAN’T STOP THE MUSIC is back on the big screen, remastered and ready to rock Dendy Newtown for the first time in 40 years! And naturally, our beloved short film sessions are back—if it’s wild, weird, or just plain bonkers, SUFF’s got it!

DARLA IN SPACE

In this quirky sci-fi comedy, Darla runs a business called Kitty Kasket, LLC which makes custom caskets for cats. Darla is stunned to learn that she owes $349,00.22 in taxes, due in one month! Darla soon meets a sentient orgasm-granting kombucha scoby named Mother who agrees to help her pay off her debt. 

All Mother asks in return is for Darla to help her get to space.

TIM TRAVERS AND THE TIME TRAVELER’S PARADOX

Tim Travers seeks to solve the time travelers paradox. The classic thought experiment of what would happen if you killed your past self. Would it - for example - -literally destroy the universe? Tim will have to learn how to literally coexist with the worst parts of himself, before his own demons destroy him and the universe with it.

Shot over 20 years, featuring archival footage, photos, interviews, Gray’s sculptures and paintings, live performance footage including Gray’s current band, The Art Gray Noizz Quintet. The odyssey of a compulsively creative iconoclast who finds his artistic redemption outside the realm of commercial success.

Followed by a Closing Night After Party at Bootleggers (Kellys on King - just a couple of doors up from the Dendy) with Groovescooter DJs as we celebrate the end of the festival in style!
