Uphold launches global cryptocurrency payroll for gig workers; Amazon debuts debit card in Mexico

Two interesting stories in today's newsletter. First, a new global cryptocurrency payroll program launched by Uphold in partnership with Bitwage and Dash. The platform lets employers quickly and inexpensively pay their suppliers in cryptocurrency, which can then be converted to various currencies, depending on the worker and country.
In Mexico, Amazon saw a market building opportunity for their e-commerce business and launched Amazon Rechargeable – a debit card aimed at the two thirds of Mexicans who do not own a credit card and are under-serviced by banks. Uphold expands cryptocurrency payroll to gig economy/underserved workers
A new Uphold partnership will simplify and speed up the payroll process for employers paying employees and freelancers, and freelancers invoicing clients around the world.
