Alibaba’s Singles Day makes double-digit record sales of $30.8 billion

Another year, another Alibaba’s Singles Day sales record with sales reaching $30.8 billion (RMB 213.5 billion), up 27% for the one-day e-commerce extravaganza. Last year, sales were $25.3 billion for the promotion, also known as Alibaba’s 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. The company said it handled more than one billion orders through its fulfillment network, Cainiao Smart Logistic. In 2017, it handled 812 million orders. Read more...
IoT payments a novelty now but will reach $410 billion by 2023

Internet of Things (IoT) payments will total an estimated $24.5 billion in 2018 but Juniper Research predicts the IoT payments market will grow at an impressive average of 75% per annum over the next 5 years, reaching $410 billion by 2023. Walmart & Ford test driverless deliveries in Miami

Shopping at Walmart got even easier if you live in Miami, thanks to a collaboration between Walmart, Ford and delivery service Postmates. The new test drive lets customers shop for groceries online, have their order picked and packaged by Walmart’s personal shoppers and delivered in a driverless delivery vehicle. Read more...
Cequence protects from internet’s 31% malicious bot traffic

Cequence Security announced an innovative application security platform that protects against the growing number of malicious bot attacks impacting online businesses. An estimated 31% of internet traffic is now made up of malicious bots with another 31% of traffic made up by “good” bots and 38.5% by humans according to ITLC. Read more...
