I got to hear about his life... we shared some laughs, and I got to tell him how much I admire him for all the great things about him.
He shows great initiative in everything he does.
For example, last week, our hot water went out so I've been working on fixing our water heater.
I mentioned that I might want to start to drain the water before we left for lunch.
Next thing I know, there's a hose running from the front yard to the laundry room.
He'd gone out and done that, without me even asking him.
So on our way to lunch, I told him that he has such great initiative and leadership. (Law of success #4)
I asked him, 'Son, what percentage of people do you think, do things like that?'
We guessed maybe around 5 - 10%.
I told him, 'now, imagine you had a job. And you were the 1 who was always doing things like that. Seeing things that needed to be done, without being asked. Making yourself extremely useful to the owner, and customers, just because you saw things that needed to be done, and did them. What do you think that would do to your ability to get noticed and advance in pay and position?'
He smiled as he thought about his bright future.
And so did I.
These are the moments and reasons I wanted to work from home.
And I suppose, these are the things that made me smile, with gratitude, as I looked across my simple home office space yesterday, filled with a sense of accomplishment and peace.
I did it.
I did it for me.
I did it for my family.
And I did it for all the people who might want an example to remind them that, it can be done.
Anyway Friend, just thought I'd send you this little note today.
I'm meeting with a new team member here in about 20 minutes and felt inspired to send this, in hopes, it can be a reminder to you that whatever your dream is...
It's possible.
Your life doesn't have to be a sacrifice to the dreams of someone else.
Instead, it can be an investment into yours.
Bigger dreams aren't better dreams.
Dreams that are different from yours, aren't worth any more than yours.
You get to decide what it is, that you want from life.
And as long as it's something you truly want, it's worthy of your best pursuit, no matter what 'they' might say.
Onward and upward Friend.
Or as I like to say...
To Freedom, and beyond,
Paul
