Pattaya and Phuket are very similar with some differences; let us start the comparing with Pattaya versus Phuket:
Pattaya is super crowded given its proximity to Bangkok. The rapid commercialization and the large number of tourists have made the beaches les nice and actually dirtier and the beach can have chocolate color.
Pattaya is cheaper because the beaches in Phuket are way cleaner and beautiful.
Pattaya has cheaper local transportation than Phuket.
Pattaya has a better choice of nightlife; Walking Street has more variety than Bang La.
Pattaya’s weather is more predictable and surely with less rain than Phuket.
Pattaya is a beach town highly developed with high rise apartments and hotels.
From Pattaya you are with 123 THB and 1.5 hour bus drive in Bangkok, from Phuket you need 11 hours and more to pay.
Pattaya has lots of bars and restaurants, lots of expats, lots of Lady boys and lots of underage prostitutes but the government is working on it.
We cannot make the choice and we lived in both. But let us be honest, nobody bot also no city is perfect you just have to find the reason why Pattaya or Phuket is FOR YOU the best.
