A great and frequently asked question. The answer is 'just about anything' if it involves document assembly.
Here, a little exploring (or as we like to call it, 'playing') is in order.
Peruse the Manual (especially the Table of Contents and the Index; they are actually a pretty good reads). You will learn a lot about the broad and deep capabilities of Pathagoras.
But sometimes reading just doesn't cut it. Nosing around the program is just more fun.
With Word open (and Pathagoras automatically running), press some buttons. Check those boxes. (Maybe keep track of what you have clicked so if it’s something you don't like, you can undo
it -- but don't get distressed if you forget. See last paragraph, below.)
Here are some things you might try. You probably know that, by default, the key combination <Alt-D> brings up
a blank Instant Database screen. But you can set it to (1) <Alt-D> to automatically scan
the underlying document; (2) to automatically process <<*Options/Optional/Repeat* .
. . >> blocks (i.e., to automatically perform the Alt-P and Alt-D functions together). You can also tell Pathagoras to replace variables in all open documents, or in all documents in a selected folder. And much more is possible. Check out these and other settings under the 'Power Tools' and the 'More Tools'
sections after you press <Alt-D>.
Likewise, there is a lot you can pre-set in your DropDown Lists. You can set Lists to move back to the top of
the document (or to stay at the bottom) after inserting the desired text; you can set it to always create (or
never create) a new document when you are using a particular list. You can create a ‘multiple-clause selection screen’ from the DropDown List options. These and other actions and settings can be found in the ‘More
Settings and Actions’ element of each of each DropDown List you have created.
More generally, drop down the 'Pathagoras Features' menu. Look at the sub-menus and sub-sub-menus there. Lot of good stuff to see.
And the list goes on and on. The settings combinations you can create is infinite. It just
takes a bit of exploring and playing. We invite you to do so to your
heart's content.
And don’t worry -- you can never ‘damage’ or break Pathagoras. There is, however, a
possibility that you will set something that you don’t remember setting, and then
cannot return to the original. Don’t worry. Call us. Tell us what’s happening
and we’ll get you back to where you want to be. That's what we do. (We want you to
see what our program can do, and that’s more important to us than limiting
phone calls.)
We really enjoy hearing from our customers. Making a 'mistake' actually
increases the possibility of your calling us. While we may laugh with you at a weird combination you may have been able to set, we will never laugh at you.
So go for it!!!
