We are pleased to
announce the public release of Pathagoras v. 2023.5.
This version has actually been released privately for several months, and many of you may have many of its new features already installed. But our extensive testing, debugging and refinement of the the new features has pushed back its release date until now. We wanted it to be 'perfect.')
This version adds a slew new
features. Additionally, many improvements have been made to existing ones. Here is a summary of what's new or improved:
Here are some of the new
tools: - A new, very powerful feature is what we are promoting as "The Power of a Word."
You can now assign a single word or short phrase to call (1) a document
(a QuickDoc), (2) any folder or sub-folder (a 'QuickLink'), or (3) a Pathagoras
command. When set, you can recall the target document, folder (or subfolder of a parent folder), or command
by simply typing the assigned keyword followed by the press of <Alt-G>
('g' for 'get').
- We have augmented the QuickLinks feature to let you quickly SAVE an underlying document instantly to your QuickLink folder. Use the keystroke Alt-S (for 's'ave) instead of Alt-G (for 'g'et).
This Save routine is really cool and a real timesaver!!!!
- By default, when *alias* text is imported, it will take on the formatting and style characteristics of the receiving document. We received a request from a user who used *aliases* to store heavily formatted text (case law and statutory citations, in his particular situation). He wanted to be able to insert the 'alias' text with the formatting intact. We have added that as a very functional exception to the rule. Good suggestion. (By the way, keep them coming.)
- We have continued to perfect our new 'Excel Complete'
tool. Released in 2022, it let's you gather all data, conditional text
settings and even desired clauses into an Excel spreadsheet and create
complete documents from the single Excel spreadsheet. You do have to know Excel fairly well to maximize the benefit of Excel Complete, but if you do, you should check out the possibilities of this next level of document automation.
We have added to and improved our 'spell-out' features for currency with more ways and choices on expanding numbers to characters. The major changes deal in how you can handle the 'decimals.' "59 cents" vs. "59/100 Dollars" vs. "59/100" (for when 'Dollars' is pre-printed on your checks).
We have augmented and simplified our concatenation
features that allow you to build new variables from existing ones.
For those using 'AskTables' (Interviews), you now can easily mark various sections of your Interviews with titles and topics. That way, your end user will have a better focus on what is being requested in a particular set of questions.
- For our non-English language based customers, we have added a "local language"
tool that lets you (1) use a local 'and' and 'or' list separators; (2)
replace instructions such as "Choose one or more" and "How many times do
you want to repeat this clause?" using your regional language and
terms; and (3) enable regional date and currency formatting. (This is a
brand new tool, so if we haven't anticipated your need, let us know.)

the above and a dozen other new features that this version brings at this link. (Yes, we have been very busy.)

If you want to make sure you are using Pathagoras in the most efficient fashion, call me (actually call Stephanie) to schedule a GoToMeeting
session with me. I will join you on your computer and look at what you have set up. I may offer some suggestions on how to improve on what you are doing. Maybe (with your permission) I'll introduce you to a new feature or two that I think would be useful to your practice, but
only ones that are consistent with your current setups. We charge nothing for this advice. It's just part of the Support
Agreement for which you are paying. (If you let the Support Agreement lapse, you can resubscribe to it without penalty for the lapse, and your support agreement runs from the date of your renewal forward 365 days.)
If you are
one of my many 'more advanced' users, the same offer applies, but we can start at a different place. Let me see where
you are now, and I can propose how to get you to the next level.
Don't hesitate to
call. (And if you like us, please tell others.)
Tip of this Newsletter: If you have read down this far, I owe you my thanks, and a tip. Type the word 'last' and press <Alt-G>. This will recall the very last document you saved. Great for when you saved and closed a document, but realized you need to make one last change. This is soooo much faster than navigating to it.
