Announcing

 Pathagoras v. 2024

We are pleased to announce the formal release of Pathagoras 2024. This version contains many new tools, improved features, and helpful screen modifications. Many of the new features have actually been part of the program for quite a few months now, and well tested by those who asked for the features. We publicly release this version only after we had thoroughly tested those new features.

The complete list of new features can be found at his link. Here are a few of the 'big' ones:

  • DropDown Lists

<Alt-G> call by ‘substantive name’. Many Pathagoras users insert text at the beginning of their document names in order to sort the various documents in Windows and Word directory displays. But that typically makes an <Alt-G> call for that document a more difficult process, if not impossible, We have added a really useful routine that allows you to ignore those prefix characters. That way, you can call in the text just by the document's substantive name. So a document named:

                               10-13-23 preamble

can be recalled by typing just

                               preamble<Alt-G>.

This is one of those 'gotta try it ASAP' tools.

DropDown List of 'lists'. The classic use of a DropDown List is to call in the contents of an entire document. Some users have asked to be able to click just in the word, or a short phrase, displayed in the DropDown List. Done! The list is created from a simple Word document containing the list of items. It performs just like other lists except the precise text is inserted when the item is clicked.

Examples of when this 'List of lists' might be used: to call in hard to spell text; to click in mandatory text; to click in statutory or case citations.

  • Repeats

We can finally declare victory over the <<*Repeats*. . . >> command. (When used in complex documents, it sometimes misbehaved. We finally tamed the beast. Thanks for your help, and your complex documents, Bruce.)

While most customers prefer the ‘template’ approach to document automation (a template is an overbuilt document, and template assembly involves removing the unwanted text in response to questions), some customers prefer the ‘accretion’ method (starting from a blank screen and pouring in sections of text until complete document has been built). To create a library of those text section, you will probably want to disassemble a document into its components. From there, you would add variety to the individual components to create a document assembly system.

Document disassembly has always been a Pathagoras tool. In this lastest release, we have made it more intuitive and easier to use. The above link takes you to a separate 'mini-manual' devoted to this process.

  • Instant Database:

We have added a 'random value generator' to the IDB screen. On request, Pathagoras will fill in ‘lorem’ type text adjacent to each variable on the Instant Database screen.

  • And much more.

The full list can be viewed here.

We invite you to Check out our these IORAD tutorials to explain and illustrate some of our new, cool, very time-saving tools. If you are not using one or more, you really should be.

QuickLinks (open a folder or subfolder with <Alt-G> and no navigation).
QuickDocs (one word access to any document).

QuickSave (quickly save your work into your client's folder

with NO navigation. "A phenominal time saver!" --Julie S.).

If you want to make sure you are using Pathagoras in the most efficient fashion, call me (actually call Stephanie) to schedule a GoToMeeting session with me. I will join you on your computer at the scheduled time and look at what you have set up. I may offer some suggestions on how to improve on what you are doing. Maybe (with your permission) I'll introduce you to a new feature or two that I think would be useful to your practice. We charge nothing for this advice. It's just part of the Support Agreement for which you are paying. (If you let the Support Agreement lapse, you can resubscribe to it without penalty for the lapse, and your support agreement runs from the date of your renewal forward 365 days. The Check Status button below will take you through the process.)

If you are one of our 'more advanced' users, the same offer applies, but we can start at a different place. Let me see where you are now, and I can propose how to get you to the next level.

Don't hesitate to call. Numbers below. (And if you like us, please tell others.)

Tip of this Newsletter: If you have read down this far, I owe you my thanks, and a tip. Type the word 'last' onto a blank line in a Word editing screen. Press <Alt-G>. This action will re-open the last document you were working on. This tool is great for when you recently saved and closed a document, but realized you need to make one last change. This is soooo much faster than navigating to it.

Owners

If you are within a year of your initial purchase or renewal of your Annual Support Agreement, or if you are a monthly subscriber, this upgrade is free. Just click the button below. Where prompted, insert your Serial Number. Pathagoras will let you know your eligibility for this release. (If you don't know your serial number, no problem. Just send us an email.)

Demo Users

If you are still within your initial 90 day free trial period, you can finish up your trial with the latest, greatest version. Log back onto the site (button below) and click any 90 day trial button. If you are beyond those initial 90 days, but still need a bit more time to make sure Pathagoras fits your needs, think about a monthly subscription  to Pathagoras. It's only $25 per month.

Thank you for the confidence you have shown in our program.
