This newsletter is being sent to owners only to advise of the upcoming release of Pathagoras 2020, and of its many improvements and new features. It is also to solicit your feedback and possible help as a tester for the new routines. (The routines have been thoroughly alpha and beta tested, but, hey, were are talking about computers here. I know I am in good company with Microsoft, and it's troubles in the past months with its 'thoroughly tested' releases of Windows.)
The latest changes are summarized at this link. Do any interest you? If so, write back and let me know. Then let's chat so I can determine if the routine actually addresses your expectation based on my description. (At the foot of this newsletter is a link to the Check Status page on our website to check your currently eligibility for the latest release. You can also renew your Annual Support Agreement there if needed.)
These are 'I didn't know that something like this could ever been done without high level, intricate coding" type improvements. We are very proud of these new tools. We have always emphasized that 'plain text is the way to go', and I am confident that this release will prove it definitively.
===================
In our last two newsletters we offered free 30 minute one-on-one training sessions to anyone who asked (newcomers, 'middle-agers' and 'old-timers', everyone) to answer questions they had about Pathagoras and to offer advice on 'best practices'. These sessions were well-received, highly requested, and helpful to those who took advantage. They were especially helpful to me by showing usage patterns among users that I never knew.
As a result of these interactions (most sessions lasted well in excess of the originally scheduled 30 minutes), I learned how far some people had stretched Pathagoras, well beyond even what I had conceived when I wrote the routine. I am so proud of you guys and gals.
But I also learned that some were unaware of some of Pathagoras' most basic tools, including DropDown Lists, options blocks and interviews. Not surprisingly, many were not yet familiar with the new "QuickLinks" feature (which allows instant navigation to any designated folder). Of course, bringing users up to speed and teaching alternative ways to use Pathagoras was the main purpose of the training sessions. Those who participated left with a greatly expanded understanding of the program. They also left with some highly 'Pathagorized' documents, or new QuickLinks, and the like, and that immediately enhanced their office's document production.
Those sessions led we to compose a new series of articles which I am titling " . . . Let me count the ways" (with apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning). In these articles I pick a topic and list the Pathagoras tools available to accomplish those ends. Hopefully, seeing what is available help you improve your office's efficiency. The first two articles are below:
No poetry. Just a recitation in each article on how to accomplish vital document automation tasks, with links to the Manual for more information and illustrations.
And for those who have read this far, and who wish to take advantage of our previous one-on-one training offer, we are offering it again. Just call on the toll-free number and ask for Julie. She will set you up a no-cost 30 minute Pathagoras refresher course at a time convenient on your calendar. (Even if you called before, that okay.)
I want to remind you of our new Iorad tutorials (announced in the last newsletter). They are step-by-step, narrated, tutorials on very narrow topics that we think will be of interest to most of you. Check them out here.
Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
Roy
