‘ Half of the new year is behind us. ‘ It is a crucial year for our planet’ is a terminology that has become glossy with excessive use. We used for the last few decades. We now need a disruptive technology that we still do not have for winning the war on the planet. Are we facing a cruel option of continuing the war against the ecosystem of our planet on which we depend and commit slow suicide?

In 2020, an unusual World War started. Strangely, the enemy was invisible. Never before in the war, the enemy was of size less than half a micron . Humans could not detected by the naked eye. That unprecedented war is still not over. Because the enemy, capable to change its avatar. . Mighty humanity, which boasts of artificial intelligence and the giant space-station to explore the universe is humbled outright by the puny virus.

We all know that the old generations are now characterised by the damages they have caused to our planet’s natural assets which in reality are so carefully nurtured through billions of years of evolution of the ecosystem. No disrespect is intended at all towards old generation. What comes to my mind is that the same old generation that thrived at the cost of planet’s natural assets, is now making of the new policy documents to save the Earth. Hypocrisy?

Yet another shrug?

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) established in 1988 by The United Nations has produced six assessment reports till April 2022. Hundreds of climate scientists and technologists from around the world in their sixth assessment report called AR6, have given singularly different message . It says ‘ we are failing and time has run out to curtail the temperature rise to 1.5 deg C above the average of pre-1870 level’. Wake-up call or Snooze time?.
