NEA's Creative Placemaking Technical Assistance (CPTA) program!


The National Endowment for the Arts and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation are excited to announce the launch of their new site for the NEA's Creative Placemaking Technical Assistance (CPTA) program! This new website celebrates the power of arts and culture in strengthening communities, and offers an abundance of resources for anyone working in creative placemaking or curious about it!

At CT State Community College Gateway in New Haven, college leaders point out, art has always been a bridge to the community. The latest initiative continues that legacy, as Gateway students have embarked on a project to bring their creativity out of the studio and onto the street.

Nominations Now Open for 2025 IMLS National Medal for Museum and Library Service


IMLS is now accepting nominations for the 2025 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation’s highest honor awarded to libraries and museums for service to their communities.

Preservation Connecticut Membership Offer


Beginning July 1, 2024, Preservation Connecticut is restructuring membership levels and increasing prices for the first time in 20 years. This will help manage some of the increased cost of doing business, like providing our high-quality magazine Connecticut Preservation News, Circuit Rider and other technical assistance, educational programming and special events. We hope you understand and continue to support our mission of protecting our state’s heritage, landscapes, and built environment because YOU are essential to our work.

Greater Bridgeport Latino Network 19th Annual Sunset Cruise


We’re excited to come together for the Greater Bridgeport Latino Network 19th Annual Sunset Cruise - Tropical Night sponsored by our friends at AARP-CT!

Join us on Thursday, July 20th and enjoy a summer evening beginning with networking on the dock and appetizers from El Coquito, followed by a beautiful sunset aboard the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry where we’ll dance the night away with music by Djvic.

 The annual Art + Design event at Metro is well into the planning stages now. If you are or you know a designer who would be interested in participating, please reach out to them! All proceeds from the gala reception on October 5 to benefit a local community service organization making a difference in Bridgeport. Media sponsor this year is Westport Lifestyle magazine. Join them for a great time with interior design and fine art, all while doing good!


Westport Country Playhouse is committed to providing a safe space for the LBGTQIA+ community. As they look to the 2024/2025 season, ticket holders of the Thursday Preview of our full productions are invited to the Pre-Show PRIDE NIGHT! They host a cocktail party for the community and friends, with live entertainment, a limited open bar, and appetizers from local restaurants. Local LGBTQIA+ community partners will be promoting their organization and offer free SWAG. They also look forward to hosting PRIDE events for some of our Special Events, stay tuned for more details!

The Connecticut Critics Circle held their 32nd annual awards ceremony and we are so thrilled to announce that A.C.T. of CT was amongst the winners! Congratulations to Kurt Alger (winner of the Best Costume Designer for KINKY BOOTS) and Nickolaus Colon (winner of the Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for KINKY BOOTS)

 The three-session art history series, “Getting” Contemporary Art is back in session at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum starting with Layo Bright: Glass Reflections on the African Diaspora. Focusing on the glass sculptures of the Nigerian-born, New York-based artist Layo Bright. Beginning in the Studio, they will use a guided looking activity to investigate the Yoruba symbols present in Bright’s work.

A gallery tour will focus on how Bright’s connection to the natural world informs her investigation of these themes.
