Tips for Narrative Writers 7 of 10
Spice up your essay with more descriptive verbs and adjectives! Avoid using ordinary verbs like "said" and "walked". Opt for more specific verbs like "shouted" and "strutted" instead. Doing so will boost your language marks as well as enliven your essay and characters.
Consider the following example: "James walked to the park with his family. It was very hot so he was sweating a lot. He asked his brother to share his cold water. His brother said no."
Did you find that short paragraph engaging? Consider this instead: "James strolled to the park with his family. It was such a sweltering day that he was dripping with sweat. He begged his brother to share the icy cold bottle of water, but his brother just smirked and refused."
Try your hand at writing more interesting sentences! Let's see if you can change the following sentences:
1. George walked to school sadly. When he got to class, he sat down and put his head down on the table. 2. Janet heard her classmates talking bad about her, so she walked over to ask them about it. 3. Chanel was very hungry, so she ate a whole chicken by herself. It tasted good.
