Tips for Essay and Report Writers
1 of 10

Good and coherent essays need to have structure. Some essay writers are so worried about expressing their ideas incoherently that they end up writing without structure.

Organize your points. You can borrow a format from the school of logical reasoning: use premises and conclusions to construct a point.

For example, if you intend to prove that medical research is beneficial to mankind:

Premise 1: Medical research may lead to breakthroughs that can save countless lives.
Premise 2: The power to save lives is something advantageous to humankind.
Conclusion: Medical research is beneficial to humankind.

Always remember to substantiate your premises with enough relevant evidence! In this case, both premise 1 and premise 2 require evidence to support their claims.

Rapid population expansion in a space-starved Singapore means flat developers now have to use areas more efficiently. Designers in London, New York and Hong Kong have faced down these challenges using a concept called 'transformer homes'. We recently shared this article on our Facebook page about the rise of transformer homes; detailed in this CNN articles is more about YO!, a company that develops 'micro-homes'.

YO! rises to the challenge of making the most of one apartment by adding smart dividers and hidden trap doors, essentially combining floor plans of many different apartments into one. Watch online how one man from Hong Kong, Gary Chang, has even combined what could have been 24 apartments into one!

  1. If your future apartment were a transformer home, what exciting features would you include in your bedroom?
  2. Should this mean that the laws governing minimum sizes for HDB flats can be relaxed? Or are citizens still entitled to a minimum amount of living space?
  3. If this were to be implemented on a large scale in Singapore, do you think such transformer homes should be priced more (because of the extra features) or less (because of the smaller area) than a regular HDB flat?
Lastly, to all fellow Star Wars fans...
