Employing structure in your essay is a easy yet effective way in ensuring you do not go out of point while engaging the reader.
Firstly, always begin with a hook. An exciting or interesting start can pique the reader's curiosity and make him eager to find out more. Rather than beginning with a standard description of the weather, try bursting in with dialogue or sounds to stand out.
For example, a standard opening would begin like this: "It was a warm and sunny day. Fluffy magnolia white clouds floated gently in the azure blue sky. I woke up in bed and suddenly remembered the performance later that day. I felt queasy and my fingers turned cold."
Instead, how about something like this: The shrill screaming of the alarm jolted me out of my dreams. I must remember to lower the volume settings on the phone, I mused sleepily when suddenly, the impending performance later that afternoon came to mind. A heavy sense of dread grabbed my stomach in a vice grip and, for a split second, my fingers turned cold and clammy."
