Hello Friend,

It's that wonderful time of year when we make plans to gather with friends and family to give thanks for all of our blessings. In that spirit, all of us here at Gayler Design Build would like to extend to you our deepest gratitude for entrusting us with your home remodeling needs.

Warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful holiday and a very Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
8 Exciting Trends in Kitchen and Bath Tile and Countertop Design for 2018

Countertops and tile can exude style while working hard in your kitchen and bathroom. The colors, shapes, textures, and materials set the tone, show personality and tie your design together. Still, tile and countertops must be durable, functional and easy to clean—or style may give way to repair or replacement costs. As we gear up for 2018, we want to share the exciting news we’ve been seeing, in concert with our interior designer extraordinaire, Dorene Gomez of J Hettinger Interiors, about the best kitchen and bathroom tile and countertop trends for the coming year.
Collaboration Between Owner and Gayler's Design Team Results in Clean, Light-Infused Kitchen Space

When our clients decided to renovate their dated kitchen, they wanted an enjoyable, casual dining space for their friends and family (particularly their beloved grandsons), with plenty of additional storage. While they were not interested in changing the existing layout, they were interested in updating the style of kitchen, adding new lighting and additional storage, and improving its function. Take a tour of this amazing before and after kitchen transformation.

A Gayler Family Favorite: Pumpkin Bar Recipe

Darlene started making this recipe about 12 years ago. The first time she made them, they smelled so good, the family all had one, and kept on eating them as their “appetizers”. Enjoy!

Pumpkin Bars:
4 eggs
1 2/3 c granulated sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
15 oz. can pumpkin
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Cream Cheese Icing:
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
½ c butter, softened
2 c sifted confectioner’s sugar
1 tsp vanilla

To make the pumpkin bars:
Preheat the oven to 350’. Using an electric mixer at medium speed, combine the eggs, sugar, oil and pumpkin until light and fluffy. Stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and baking soda. Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and mix at low speed until thoroughly combined and the batter is smooth. Spread the batter into a greased 13 x 10 inch baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting. Cut into bars.

To make the icing: Combine the cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the sugar and mix at low speed until combined. Stir in the vanilla and mix again. Spread on cooled pumpkin bars.
