Subject: News and Views from The TechLX

Welcome to The Technology Leadership Experience and the inaugural issue of our monthly newsletter, The TechLX ConneX.

The TechLX ConneX is a resource connecting those who share our passion for developing the next generation of technology leaders to thrive in the digital age.

There is a perfect storm brewing as companies expect more from their technology organization: orchestrate a new, frictionless customer experience; drive new revenue streams; and enable the company to be a disruptor.

At the same time, many IT leaders are retiring, while others are leaving the field to scratch a start-up itch. And there are still more storm clouds on the horizon, given that we have so underinvested in developing our pipeline of IT leaders.

We all know the perfect storm isn’t so perfect if you’re right in the middle of it. But we are here to equip you for this journey, to future-proof your career, and to keep you connected to like-minded people and timely resources to weather the storms ahead.

The goal of this newsletter is to foster continuous learning and help you extend the connections you’ve developed through The Technology Leadership Experience. Each month, we’ll be rounding up the latest news, insights, tips, and best practices from the IT leadership community and from your colleagues in TechLX cohorts around the globe.

We’d love to feature your ideas and take-aways in future editions of the newsletter. Get in touch with us to contribute your insights and help us build on the community’s body of knowledge.

Sponsors, mentors, and participants in The TechLX are some of the brightest and most insightful minds in IT leadership today. To support your continuous learning journey, each month we’ll be highlighting leadership articles and resources, many of them featuring the expertise from members of our TechLX community.

Mentoring is truly a win-win proposition, providing value for both the mentor and the mentee. Dollar Bank CIO Bill Fortwanger and Andy Bonelli, a senior IT manager at PPG, were paired up as mentor and mentee in a TechLX cohort in Pittsburgh, and they recently shared their insights on what makes a mentoring relationship effective. Read more and hear from other TechLX mentors on the value of mentoring.

Through passion and consistency, Cass Informations Systems CIO and TechLX mentor Jim Cavellier has led a remarkable career of pioneering innovation and efficacy within the IT industry. In this podcast interview, Jim shares his leadership advice and discusses the CIO’s most pressing priorities.

How are organizations addressing the IT leadership void? TechLX sponsor Chris Caruso, Vice President of IT for PPG, has been leading the way. In this feature for CIO Magazine, he explains why it’s so important to build a network of IT executives and emerging tech leaders within the region — and how that network will expose these leaders to new ideas and tech-driven solutions to their business challenges.
