Help wanted with new book

Ever since Amazon banned two of my books and basically cut my income to zero, I have been thinking about writing something completely different.

But it appears that procrastination has been my middle name.

So I had a talk with myself and came up with an idea.

What if two or three people that I've never met were willing to help me out?

What if I set up a writing schedule and had a couple of people who I could see myself "writing for" - with the expectation that they would receive and read the new book in weekly installments?

Would that keep me on my toes and ensure that I actually did the work instead of just thinking about it?

I could set myself a goal of 10,000 words in five days, and stick to it, then email out the week's work at the weekend to my "helpers."

I would send it out as a .pdf document, so my helper/s should be familiar with that format, and also be able to do some basic and very simple editing, such as highlighting spelling errors and adding comments in a pdf document.

The only thing I'd ask them to do each week in return would be to highlight and point out any typos or bring attention to any of my "favorite phrases" - the repetitive use of which all authors tend to be guilty of from time to time.

At this point I can but guess at how many weeks might be involved, but I'm thinking about 60,000 words would be enough to get the job done - give or take a few.

Once published, my helpers would, naturally, receive a signed copy of the book, which will be in paperback format. I can't sign an ebook of course, but it will also be available in that format.

Because writing this new book will be in addition to my continuing research and publication of the newsletter and videos, I figure it would be best to have only two or three "helpers" who would have the time over the weekend to go through the pdf draft, mark up typos where necessary, and return a copy to me.

The object here is to keep the time involved in sending, receiving, and re-editing down to a manageable level.

Now in case you're wondering what sort of book I have in mind, well, it's something completely different from politics, current events, Q or Qanon, or the New World Order, or President Trump - but it's a true story. A real life adventure story.

Here are the first few paragraphs that I wrote a year or more ago.

There's something to be said about spending three months wearing a concealed .45 handgun just in case your avowed enemy - your former friend - decides to make good on that assassination threat.

As true stories go, that’s pretty much how it ended, with me wearing jungle-green military surplus pants, a .45 in the cargo pocket on the right, a K-bar knife in the one on the left, and my neck on a swivel.

All of that simply because I had helped out a new friend right up till the time I realized he was not the multi-millionaire he claimed to be, and the gold coins and gold bars he flashed around or had me sell on his behalf weren’t his at all.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

We need to jump in the way-back machine, zip down to the other side of the planet (to a little country called New Zealand, which you may never have heard of) and move forward from there till we wind up at high noon on the courthouse steps in Seattle, Washington, some time after a lengthy trial.

It's quite possible that I'll now receive more than two offers of assistance, and I must thank each one of you in advance.

But to bring it down to two or three, please keep in mind the above reference to being able to work with pdf documents.

I do write initially in Libre Office, and I can save in Word93 as a docx, but I use a pdf version to email out (and back) because pdf's do not get corrupted in transmission or pick up viruses on the way through the ethers.

If this all appeals to you, and if you would like to follow up, please email me back with "helper" in the subject line.

I will acknowledge every incoming email, and let you know in a few days if you have made the cut - or if you qualify for a secret consolation prize some time down the road.
