Soon...Very Soon...Almost...
I've been mulling over how best to convince people (you) to listen to this interview.
The best I can come up with is this.
Regardless of whether you are into politics - or religion - or atheism - you are (and I am) a unique individual.
In a massive disaster, such as has happened with Hurricane Ian in Florida, people put all those things aside, and they help each other.
But they must also help themselves - which many did, when they learned what was coming and chose to evacuate.
Others ignored the warning signs, stayed put, and, by choice, risked death - literally - by hunkering down.
True, who knows how many of them had stocked up ahead on emergency supplies?
I would hazard a guess and say it was a very very small percentage.
For many thousands of Floridians, the aftermath will be more life-threatening than the storm itself.
I did my CERT training years ago, and it's a fact that it can take up to two weeks or more for emergency services to reach those in need (if they reach them at all). Of course, FEMA has been activated, and every effort will be made to assist as many people as possible (although there are some reports of rogue FEMA individuals literally stealing valuables from homes that have been evacuated, and there is no doubt that some survivors will now start looting and robbing just so they can survive).
In other words, disasters bring out the best and the worst in human nature.
The wisest among them were and are those who knew what was coming, and took responsibility for themselves. Personally, I would hope that included being prepared to defend themselves and their families according to their rights under the Second Amendment.
I use these references to Florida because it is a perfect example of how people either prepare (or don't) for what is coming. Those who had advance knowledge and made wise choices did best.
What this interview is about is the future that will affect almost everyone on the planet....including you, and me, my wife, my distant relatives, my neighbors ... ALL of us.
BUT - not everyone is going to get the message.
Many will continue in that mode of false optimism that says "well disasters come and go. We'll be back to normal before long." No doubt many others will continue the refrain "God wins" and go on doing nothing for themselves where a better frame of mind would be "God helps those who help themselves."
Some of us have helped ourselves by being gardeners, doing the best we can to grow a variety of vegetables to augment what we can buy.
However, if you're a gardener, this year you just might have wondered why yields were so poor. For example, we have three huge apple trees which in the past have produced enough fruit to make apple sauce for a family of seven (neighbors), apple sauce for us, and apple cider vinegar for the year. PLUS multiple full barrowloads that had to be composted.
This year? Right now, I could walk among those trees, and find less than 50 apples on the ground!.
From the one pear tree that last year gave us probably 50 pounds of fruit, this year - perhaps six or seven individual misshapen pears which turned to mush before they ripened.
This interview gave me an understanding of WHY.
Why is California right now tearing out entire orchards of fruit trees that have produced little to nothing?
Why have we had three straight months of drought here in the Pacific Northwest?
Why have this year's crops in Nigeria been totally destroyed by flooding?
Why did Hurricane Ian stall over the biggest phosphorus fertilizer operation in America?
What are the ramifications of that when it comes to food production in this country?
What does that mean, for me, in the short- and long-term?
Thanks to this interview, I now know what it means, and armed with these facts and evidence, I will be much wiser when it comes to planning for the future.
(There are two interviews here, back to back. I am referring in particular to the first one).
