Solopreneur Does Not Mean All Alone

NNBA Guest Blogger

This blog came out of my experience last week at the NNBA 2024 Nurse Entrepreneurship conference. My goal was to meet, connect, and exchange information with as many nurses as I could.

When Three Dog Night sang, “One is the Loneliest Number,” I’m sure they did not know how that song was going to resonate with so many people on so many levels. Being a solopreneur can take one down the rabbit-hole of loneliness. Nurses who break away from the bedside have many well-wishers and medical friends when starting a business. This does not necessarily translate into endorsing your new venture like you thought it would.

The good news is that you see a need, you have the drive and you want to help others all while making all the decisions for yourself. You will no longer be subjected to shifts that last longer than 12 hours, on-call calls in the middle of the night and the 0400 call that someone called out and can you come in because they are short-staffed. Your venture is yours – you call the shots.

Our modern-day digital landscape is kiiind of noisy, and it can be challenging to figure out what really matters.

Think about your own experience, though—when you’re scrolling through your social media feeds and find a product or service-based business that you want to try out, do you not immediately look for a link in their bio directing you to their website so you can find out more information or purchase said product?

I know I do.

Whether you’re a nurse entrepreneur aiming to launch your own clinic, sell digital or physical products, or share your expertise through courses, coaching, or consulting, having a website could be the single deciding factor your audience uses to go from casual lurker to loyal customer.
