Dear Nurses,

Serving nurses for 35 years, on the forefront of the nurse entrepreneur movement, the NNBA 2020 Annual Educational Conference took place this past weekend. Innovation, creativity, aspirations, and plans for success were in abundance at this year’s virtual conference!

Nurses are no longer willing to accept limits placed on the course of their careers. From nurse entrepreneurs and innovators, to nurses creating new paths as clinicians and educators, we are re-framing an exciting future!

In early April, we held a conference call with our members discussing our new reality, and the ramifications of COVID-19. We decided to pivot from our in-person event in Las Vegas, to a virtual conference, and had overwhelming success. Nurses representing every state in the US, in addition to nurses from Canada, Mexico, and Australia were in attendance. Nurses from all levels of academic progression, professional and diverse backgrounds, passions, and pursuits culminated in an outstanding conference weekend.

Starting with our meet and greet receptions, conference attendees had access to nurse entrepreneur superstars like Donna Cardillo, Keith Carlson, Renee Thompson, Louise Jakubik, and Stella Nsong. At NNBA’s annual conference influential and meaningful connections are made, business partnerships and collaborations are forged, and friendships are solidified.

The NNBA can offer nurses the best program available for nurse entrepreneurs, and aspiring entrepreneurs, because of the depth and wealth of resources within the NNBA membership. Our members resumes include thousands of nurse-owned businesses, awards, and millions of dollars of revenue.

Nurses loved Renee Thompson, DNP, RN, CSP® of Healthy Workforce Institute who presented Saturday’s keynote address, “From Risk to Reality: Navigating the Entrepreneurial Journey.” On Sunday, serial entrepreneur rock star, Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio, PhD, RN, CCRN of Education Enterprises, presented her keynote address, “Grow Your Greatness: Nurse Entrepreneurs on Fire!” and fired nurses up to not let anything hold them back. Nurses commented continually on how inspirational and motivational the presentations were.

It is an exciting time to be a nurse! Let’s face it, this pandemic is challenging us like never before, and there are major changes to the healthcare delivery systems, and the healthcare marketplace. At the same time, we are inspired and motivated to participate in the creation of our future, and to look at what services, products, and programs healthcare consumers need, an we as nurses can provide.

Nurse attendees selected their Expert Consultation Round Tables Sessions that are taking place on October 10th. NNBA’s Accelerating Success Networking Group’s first meeting was announced for October 14th and will be coming to NNBA members every month. The schedule will be located in the membership area of our website, www.NursesBusiness.com.

Be sure to SAVE the dates September 24-26th 2021 for NNBA’s Annual Educational Conference on Nurse Entrepreneurship. We will keep you posted on whether this event will be in-person, or virtual as we gather more information during this unprecedented time.

Thank you to all the nurse entrepreneurs, and aspiring entrepreneurs that attended the conference, and for your amazing evaluations and comments. Thank you for spending time with us discovering the opportunities, and emerging trends to start, run, and expand your own nursing business.

Unconventionally yours,

Michelle
