October 6, 2024

Dear Nurses,

I'd like to take this opportunity to announce my retirement as President of the National Nurses In Business Association (NNBA). For the past 10 years it has been an honor and privilege to work with thousands of innovative and entrepreneurial nurses. I am deeply grateful for the support and collaboration you have shown throughout my tenure.

Together, the NNBA Nurses in Business, has achieved remarkable milestones and I will forever cherish the memories of so many events and our conversations throughout these years, especially at our flagship annual educational conferences on nurse entrepreneurship.

Today, I am introducing the new President of the NNBA: Nena Hart, PhD, MSN, RN, BC-TN, BC-FMNS, CDONA, CHPN. Nena Hart is a dynamic leader and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in corporate healthcare. As founder of Hart Healthcare Solutions, she uses her expertise in managing large teams, improving operations, and achieving survey and accreditation to provide consulting services in compliance, education, and operational efficiency. Additionally, Nena develops programs that empower nurses to transition into self-employment, consulting, and entrepreneurship, helping them find freedom and fulfillment beyond traditional roles.

Nena exemplifies the ideal blend of servant leadership and proven business success. I am fully confident in her ability to build upon the solid pioneering foundation of the NNBA as the leading organization for nurse entrepreneurs. With her deep understanding of NNBA’s mission and a clear vision for its future, Nena is poised to lead the association through its next phase of growth and innovation.

I will be assisting Nena to ensure a seamless transition and have full confidence that you will extend to her the same warmth and support you have so generously shown me. I have often said that the excitement and positivity of the NNBA Nurses in Business community is truly palpable, and I know that energy will continue to thrive as Nena steps into this role.

Moving forward, I’m happy to let you know that I’m returning to my writing roots under the Unconventional Nurse®. I’ve always loved writing, and I am excited to dedicate more time to it.

Thank you once again for the incredible experiences and memories during my time at the NNBA. I am excited to witness the continued success of the association under Nena’s capable leadership.

Unconventionally yours,

Michelle

Letter from the new President of the NNBA

Dear NNBA Members,

As I transition into the role of president of the National Nurses in Business, I want to express my gratitude and excitement. I also want to share my dedication to each of you and the vision for the future of experiencing freedom and flexibility through self-employment and entrepreneurship. I am passionate about helping nurses navigate the path of self-employment, independent practice, and entrepreneurship.

With over a decade of leadership in corporate healthcare and my experience as the founder of Hart Healthcare Solutions in 2019, I have personally witnessed the incredible potential that nurses possess. My journey has always been driven by a passion for empowering our profession.

As a member and conference attendee, vendor, speaker and pre-conference workshop presenter, I am deeply connected to the history, mission and vision of the NNBA, which champions the idea that nurses can take control of their careers in profoundly transformative ways. We can create an environment where every nurse feels inspired and empowered to explore new opportunities and pursue their wildest dreams.

My goal is to ensure that you have the resources, guidance, and support needed to thrive in your newfound or growing business. I am here to work with each of you to encourage innovative solutions, to support nurses to excel in your endeavors. The best part of my experience with the NNBA to date has been the conversations, strategy, laughter, brainstorming and friendships I have made with so many of you.

Your business success is my top priority. I am completely committed to fostering a strong, supportive community where we can connect, collaborate, and celebrate our achievements together.

Thank you for being the best of this incredible organization and thank you to Michelle and Lou for all their hard work to make the NNBA what it is today. I am excited about what we can accomplish together and look forward to shaping a bright future for nurses in business.
