INC.

An Entrepreneurial Mindset Empowers Both Nursing and Nurse Entrepreneurs. I devoted the first chapter in Unconventional Nurse® Going From Burnout to Bliss! to the entrepreneurial mindset. An entrepreneurial mindset is incredibly important, not just for entrepreneurs but for nurses in various specialties and roles. It encompasses a set of attitudes, behaviors, and skills that are valuable in both professional and personal contexts. Here are some reasons why an entrepreneurial mindset is significant and how nurses can leverage entrepreneurial thinking to make a positive impact on healthcare:

1) Innovation: Entrepreneurial individuals are often innovative and creative. They seek out new solutions to problems and are open to trying unconventional approaches. This mindset is crucial in a rapidly changing world where innovation drives progress.

2) Problem-Solving: Entrepreneurs are adept at identifying and solving problems. This skill is applicable in any profession or aspect of life. Being able to find efficient solutions to challenges is a valuable asset.

Are you ready to turn your passion project into a thriving business? The journey from a side hustle to a full-time career isn’t easy, but it’s certainly possible. You can make this transition a reality with dedication, strategic planning, and the right tactics.

If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur or already in the startup phase, here’s how to scale your side hustle while transitioning from part-time to full-time, all while keeping your entrepreneurial spirit alive.

Optimize Your Time

You only have so many hours of the day available to devote to your side hustle. So, the first order of business will be to determine how exactly you’re spending your time.

Log your hours for the week to help you establish how long it takes to accomplish certain tasks, where you might be wasting time, and when you’re the most productive during the day.

Once you’ve conducted a time audit, you should be better able to create a daily schedule — even going so far as to set “office hours” for your side hustle, with all the various tasks prioritized by order of importance.

Look at any poll of people's biggest fears, and public speaking will always rank near the top along with other common phobias like fear of snakes, spiders, or heights. While that's probably not news to many entrepreneurs, who generally need to speak to groups as part of running their businesses, here's a question for you: Have you ever wondered why exactly so many of us are terrified of speaking in front of groups?

Snakes, spiders, and heights will definitely kill you. Evolution would have been asleep at the wheel if it didn't equip humans with a fear of these things. But giving a speech, no matter how disastrously it goes, will not be the end of you. So why do many of us get the same stomach-churning, hands-shaking, slick-with-sweat feeling when facing a room of blank faces as we do when facing a cobra?

Deborah Frances-White thinks she knows why. A comedian and sought-after speaker on diversity issues, Frances-White is also the force behind one of the most useful TEDx talks on the art of public speaking you're likely to come across. At the heart of it is one simple observation: "Audiences look like lions."
