Welcome Back from the Executive Director
Summer has always been my favorite time of year. Many of us spend time relaxing, reflecting and preparing for a new academic school year. A new year means a new opportunity to set goals, develop student leaders, shape campus culture, or plan for recruitment efforts. As the start of the school year approaches, now is the time to take that renewed energy and direction and turn it into action.

In June, the NGLA Board of Directors traveled to Baltimore, Maryland for our summer meeting. During the meeting we had a chance to walk through the site of our 2020 Annual Conference - The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. This new location will expand the accessibility of our conference and we hope to grow attendance of both participants and institutions.

The 2020 Annual Conference marks the 20th anniversary of the Northeast Greek Leadership Association (NGLA). Back in 2000, the Northeast Panhellenic Conference, Inc. and the Northeast Interfraternal Conference, Inc. merged into NGLA. This was a momentous event in our Association’s history. Many fraternity and sorority leaders have given their time and talent to the Association over the years and we look forward to honoring them when we celebrate our birthday!

Over the summer, we have dedicated a lot of energy toward streamlining our operations. With our new 501(c)3 status, we launched Google for Nonprofits as our email, calendar, and file storage platform. We also launched Asana, a project management tool, to help us work toward our goals while providing the highest level of customer service. A lot of this would not be possible without our Operations Manager (formerly Virtual Assistant), Audra Dwan.

Outside of our Operations Manager, NGLA is operated by a tremendously dedicated team of volunteers, without whom none of what we do would be possible. I would like to take a moment to recognize our volunteers for everything they have done and everything they continue to do. I am amazed by this wonderful group of humans.

As we head into the start of the academic year and our 20th Anniversary, please be sure to keep the NGLA in your thoughts. If you attended any of our past leadership events, how can you use what you learned to make an impact on your campus? What are ways the Association can help you achieve your goals? Whether it’s a professional speaker you met at the conference whose words inspired you or an action plan that you developed, it’s important to take that learning and turn it into results. Most importantly, let us know how we can better serve you. I’d love to hear from you - email me anytime at exec@ngla.org.

Best wishes for the start of another year of values driven excellence.

Fraternally,
Kevin Pons
