| | Chapter Advisor Survey Thanks to the generosity of Zeta Tau Alpha, NGLA and RISE Partnerships are working together to develop a one-day intensive training experience for volunteers (chapter, alumni/ae, faculty/staff) in conjunction with the 2014 Annual Conference.
To assess the needs of chapter advisors and shape the content of the program, NGLA and RISE have created a survey that can completed within 15 minutes. The survey is available to everyone, so please invite students, chapter advisors, and other professionals from your institution to respond. The purpose of this survey is to understand the experiences, talents, and needs of chapter fraternity/sorority advisors.
The questions pertain to those volunteers who have a direct advisory relationship with undergraduate fraternity/sorority members, regardless of the topic area (i.e. recruitment advisor, financial advisor, faculty advisor, etc.). The survey will remain open through October 31, when information will be incorporated into program design efforts. |

Local Greek Leadership ConferenceThe Local Greek Leadership Conference (LGLC) is scheduled for Saturday, November 9 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. LGLC is dedicated to building a network among local Greek organizations. Local organizations do not have the opportunity to participate in conferences and programs hosted by national governing bodies. This conference is dedicated to local organizations coming together and learning from one another.
The purpose of the Local Greek Leadership Conference is to:
- To promote relationships between local sororities and fraternities;
- To give local organizations access to a conference and therefore workshops, networking, and resources; and
- To create a network among these local organizations in which ideas may be exchanged to strengthen individual organizations beyond the conference.

| | Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to our first Volunteer of the Month Adam McCready. The Assistant Director of the Office of Fraternities, Sororities, and Independent Living Groups at MIT and NGLA volunteer newsletter editor since last October, Adam has made quite an impression on our membership. Wendi Kinney, NGLA Executive Director, notes that, “Every month when the newsletter hits my email inbox I'm just so thrilled with how it showcases the Association. We have lacked a public face for NGLA (beyond the annual conference) for a long time and Adam has really just jumped in with both feet and done an outstanding job.” We all agree with Wendi’s words and want to acknowledge Adam’s accomplishments for everyone to see. Thanks, Adam, for all you do. You truly deserve this honor.
Do you know anyone who goes above and beyond to to support NGLA as a volunteer? Please nominate that person for the NGLA Volunteer of the Month. Nominations will be accepted by the 20th of each month by emailing volunteer@ngla.org and the winners will be showcased in this newsletter. Showcased volunteers will also receive a special surprise to thank them for their contributions. Who can you nominate for the next NGLA Volunteer of the Month? |
| Volunteer Opportunities with NGLA Vacancies still exist for our drive-in conferences, marketing/member recruitment, newsletter, blog, recognition and Annual Conference Impact Awards teams. Not currently living in the Northeast? Not a problem! All positions are remote and only require you to have a desire to enhance the fraternal experiences of the students of our region. For more information regarding NGLA or our volunteer opportunities please visit our website at www.ngla.org or contact Tiffany Neal, Coordinator of Volunteers, at volunteer@ngla.org. |
